Ulyanovsk Region is located in the south-east of the European part of Russia, in the center of Privolzhsky Federal District (PFD).

The Ulyanovsk Region is located in the temperate - continental climate zone and forest-steppe natural zone. From north to south the region stretches for 250 km, from west to east - for 280 km.
