Workforce potential of the region
Cluster and high-technology production development accounts for increased demand in labor force in Kaluga Region. Therefore the region gives priority attention to improving professional development training system and creating specialized training centers. For example, personnel training center to suit the needs of automotive industry is a modern training facility fully equipped with the latest technology employed at Volkswagen and Peugeot-Citroen-Mitsubishi factories. The training center provides nearly 100 training programs and has more than 30 laboratories to suit specific business needs: mechatronics, automotive electrical engineering and electronics. More than 8000 people have already been trained to suit the needs of automotive factories.
A similar training center is now under development to suit the needs of the growing pharmaceutical cluster. The first group of specialists started training back in February of 2012.
Construction of a large number of enterprises accounts for rapidly growing demand in qualified employees. Therefore training of qualified personnel is also provided by special purpose educational institutions of Kaluga Region. Also many skilled workers have entered the labor market due to the modernization of traditional industries. Others are moving to Kaluga from the neighboring regions. The use of foreign labor is accepted within the limits of established quotas. Besides, there are internationally recognized recruitment agencies that offer their services in the region.
